Discuss the difference between a blog and a wiki.
A wiki is the world online dictionary in which anyone add or modify the information of it.
Wiki means quick. we can modify data anytime.
A lot of information in any topic in a wiki is being changed even now.
It's for all people in the world.
There is not authority.

The data can be wrong because it can be someone's opinion.

A blog is a site where people write their interets freely.
Their interests can be any topic such as hobby, their lifestyle, study and so on.
It made by a person. It has privacy. If someone controll it as people can see his blog.

Briefly discuss how you can use blogs, wikis OR podcasts in language teaching.
I can make students make their own blog like this class. And  While I teach them in class, a camera is going to record my lecture. I update it after class. So anyone who want to see my class again can see our site anytime.

I will update a variety of kinds of podcasts. I'm going to give homwork.
Students should listen to one of them and make a report about how they feel once a week.

I'm going to make student's pronounciation better through a assignment which is to record talking with partner about a topic. And they share each other's podcast in class.

Extra credit

What I choose in the list top 100 are Facebook and Skipe.
Facebook is one of the famous social networks in the world. It is different from others in that it is easy to find friends. If a person add another person as a friend, he can know who is the friend's friends.
I think it is best of best because it make people more social and it is so famous that everyone in the world know what it is and how to use it. English is a global language. It will be helpful to make foreigner friends to use communicate in English on Facebook. http://www.facebook.com/
Skipe is a instant messaging tool. when I want to contact my friends or when I want to play games with my friends with talking, I used to use it. It's free. I think Using it with foreigners for improving learners' English speaking ability is good. Also some people, including me, say the sound quality is better than other tools.

Reflection paper

Why is technology necessary for teaching English?
I've learned about teaching English with technology in this class. I already know how it is useful to use technology for teaching English. For being great a techer, nowadays I should know how to teach English with technology in class. It's not choice, but it's essential. I want to be good at technology to teach English with it more efficiently.
I've learned internet-based project work. I know what it is, but I'm not familiar with it. It's difficult for me to use it. Whenever I take classes in the beginning of the semester, if there is presentation evaluations which I make it with computer in a class, I had not taken it because I had never used it. In order to overcome it, I take a computer lecture in this semester and l'm learning. The more I learn it, the more I'm interested in it and feel how it is useful and easy. I want to learn how to associate Internet with teaching English in this class.
My strength is understanding learners' mind. I really know that how English learners who are at low than other students feel when they learn because of they are like me. I want to teach students who do not know English almost, but they are highschool students and want to learn.
My weakness is my English pronunciation and that I have low confidence to use English. My pronunciation is so bad. Everyone say me, " Your pronunciation is so bad so you try to make effort to be good at it. therefore I have low confidence when I stand in front of people for presentation. I will overcome it through technology. In other wise, I get the lots of audio files and try to listen a lot and repeat what they speak.
Actually, I'm afraid of this class because I'm technophobe and I'm not good at English. Although this class is difficult for me to understand, if I make lots of effort, it comes to fruition to me.

The site I choose

A website I analyze is located at http://www.eslpod.com/website/index_new.html. and it speaks about learning English for ESL through podcast or records which has stories and scripts ideas in English. It created by Dr.Lucy Tse and Dr.Jeff McQuillan and Other professors helped it.

Both Dr. Tse and Dr. McQuillan received a Ph.D. in applied linguistics and education at the University of Southern California. The purpose of the site is to help ESL continue to improve their English. Although many site has the same aim, this site is so different than others in that it provide English at a slower speed and use everyday phrases and expressions. I think the most important thing in learning English is to learn through materials which learners understand comfortably. In the left most part, there are introduction about ESLpod such as what is ESL podcast?, learning guide and Testimonials which shows how people feel this site, ESL podcast blog where people use the materials freely and ESL podcast store where people get the more information about variety story ideas and so on. The lower part of the introduction contains the TOP 10 podcasts so that people can know what popular is. The middle part in this site contains ESL podcast blog of this week and in the lower section of it, there is latest ESL podcast. The most right contains about ESL pod cast store. If you want to know more information, click STORE on the top of the site. This site is easy to navigate through and students what they want quickly.

homework 2

1. Consider the difference between EFL related and authentic websites.

EFL related webistes is focused only English so it can be help learners' homework and exams, so it can give great help their own grade. but it won't give interest to them. Otherwise Authentic websites is based on learners' interest so learners can be more active that they don't feel boring and accept knowlege more comfortable.

2. Consider how to evaluate a website for classroom use.

- Accuracy

  • Who wrote the page? Is this person an expert in the subject matter?
Check qualifications, experience - look for an 'about me' link.
  • Is the page content reliable and factually correct?
Cross-reference with other similar websites and encyclopedias.
- Currency
  • Is the content up-to-date?
Check factual information against other reliable sources.
  • When was the page last updated?
Check for information at the bottom/top of the page.

- Content

  • Is the site interesting and stimulating?
Consider the content from your learners' point of view.
  • Is it attractive and easy to navigate?
- Functionality

  • Does the site work well? Are there any broken links?
Be sure to check all pages, and follow all links to all pages you intend to use.
  • Does it use a lot of large files or alternative technologies?
Check how quickly it loads for learners; check sound, video and animation work.
I  think the most important one is content because students dosen' try to read or look at the site if it isn't interesting and stimulatig. Accuracy, currency, functionality will be considered as second.

Things to consider

1. Consider the causes of technophobia and suggest ways to overcome it.

I suggest people who have technophobia two ways below to overcome it.

First, give you confidence. There is no one who do use technology well at first time.
They just try to use it many times although you don't do well. You don't have to feel shame to use it.

Second, Use vedeos for learning technology. There are a lot of things you can see and just follow on internet. Do you want to learn how to use some machines? Nowadays, you don't have to read the instructions of machines. You can learn through vedeos and enjoy

2. Examine specific teacher doubts about using technology in the classroom and suggest some solutions.

You can save your time. Let's think you have something to prepare for teaching. It require a lot of time to do if you do not have a technology, but if you have, you can save your time.
For example, if the class dosen't have any technology, you have to write your idea on the blackborad when you give students your opinions. it need time and make you tired.
if the class have, you can show right away whenever you want to show and it doesn't need time.
